Our channel partners, when they bought software,
from Sharp, had to go through different systems to register the product, get it activated,
and then also later as the supported their end customers they needed a single repository
for this information. The license management is part of a strategy, it’s a tool. We had
to find the right kind of tool that would allow us to have a flexible business model as well as integrate a lot of different systems that we had. Gemalto is a good provider, and
I think in the early phase of the discussion they presented a compelling case of wanting
to work with us. They were also able to show us that they had done this before. It’s complex because it touches almost every
single group or department within the organisation And as such it really requires working with
all these different groups and understanding their concerns and issues and then also being
able to integrate those into a prototype or beta or concept that we can shop around with
our channel partners, because their feedback in the design and implementation is valuable as well. In any project there’s always mistakes, misunderstandings, those happen… that is
the normal course of business. The question is always the spirit of partnership
with which they are resolved. They need to be on the journey with you, and
they need to understand what your needs are, and you need to understand what their needs
are so that you can find a balanced business approach
